Abstract

Substance use in adolescence is a serious bio-psycho-social harm both in the short and long term. This problem starts at an increasingly young age, and means a difficult mission for the adults and the professionals too.  Information about particular changes are helpful in order to detect the problem in time. Psychological, biological, social and cultural backgrounds are important in the process of treatment planning. Such backgrounds are for example advantage, regression, self-medicalization and pseudo-control.
